This design appears in the latest issue of Coup de Pinceau. It’s one of two 10″ squares I painted with a textured orange background and pears.
I painted the designs on 10×10 gallery canvas so I wouldn’t need to frame them. The surface is covered with a texture compound to create a rough background, then it was painted and glazed.
I tore a strip of newsprint and glued it vertically to the surface then stamped some flowers onto the paper. With a round brush, I washed color into the stamped image.
The pear was painted with layers of color to create the modeled look.
